Acid Reflux Treatment
Acid Reflux Treatment Tips for Quick Relief!
Every person that suffers from acid reflux will not all respond the same to treatment. Acid reflux treatment needs to be determined on the severity of your condition and cannot be treated the same way your friend would treat theirs. We all wish there was a quick fix that would help everyone the same. But the problem becomes realized when you understand how acid reflux is classified.
The first treatment to look into would be changing your lifestyle a bit. This can be done by avoiding certain foods that can cause your acid reflux to flare up. If you have noticed, it is probably the worst when you have eaten a large meal. Eat smaller portions, making it easier to digest and less food sitting in your stomach at a time. It is shown that smoking , drinking alcohol and too much coffee can trigger acid reflux. Another good lifestyle change would to shed any extra weight you may have.
Acid reflux seems to be at its worse during the night, when you lay down to sleep. You may find a great treatment to be simply propping your upper body up a bit more. This helps use gravity in your favor. Another way to do that is with a special acid reflux pillow. They work great and such a simple treatment for a better nights sleep.
Another acid reflux treatment can be found as easily as your local drug store. There are some pretty helpful medications that can be purchased over the counter. There are some that are more and less expensive than others. Some of the less expensive are Tums, Pepto Bismol, Rolaids, and you can even pick these up at a local gas station if the emergency arises. But there are some better medications that are still over the counter, but pretty costly. These are medications such as Prilosec, which use to be a prescription medication. The way these medications work is by blocking the secretion of a particular acid in your stomach, or by just reducing the acid, as is the case with Tums, or other antacids.
There can be certain side effects with some acid reflux treatment, even though you can get them without a doctors prescription. You may experience some diarrhea or have the opposite problem of constipation. You may also have some stomach cramping and excessive thirst. What you must realize, by inhibiting the necessary acids to digest your food, you will have a more difficult time through the entire digestive process. So, if you have more problems, talk to your doctor.
