Acid Reflux Foods-What Types of Food Should You Avoid?

Is there a way to prevent acid reflux and all the horrible symptoms that come along with it?  You can do this by changing your lifestyle, looking to see what acid reflux foods have caused you the symptoms in the first place.  Anyone that is suffering or has suffered from acid reflux disease, has greatly improved when watching their intake of acid reflux foods.

Not everyone reacts the same way to the food they eat, so there is not a right or wrong diet here.  You will know by what effects you personally and the best way to do that is to start with a food journal.  If you go to a Mexican restaurant, and have chips and salsa, a lot of cheese, and hot sauce, then later you have horrible reflux symptoms, write it down.  Keep track of how you feel, what you ate and the approximate time the symptoms began.

The most common acid reflux foods are those that are high in fat, such as fried foods, fatty meats and high fat dairy such as ice cream or cheese.  Other foods that are trouble are spicy foods or those high in acid like citrus fruits.  The vegetables high in acid content are tomatoes and onions.  It is also good to avoid drinks with caffeine as this is another contributor.
